GRAND OPENING PARTY!
The Grand Opening will start at 7:00 pm on October 25th. It comprises our annual Membership Drive with truly scrumptious prizes; a silent auction; the world premier of our latest movie, Sword of Lightning, Sword of Thunder (Here's the trailer); and more.
The 2008 Membership Drive is truly unprecedented in the annals of the Worcester Fencing Club. This year we are thrilled to offer you rewards guaranteed to provoke salivation and champing at the bit. So here goes:
Third Prize is two booklets of Open Fencing coupons, a $100 value. It goes to that lucky patron who brings in the third-highest number of new signups, with a minimum requirement of two.
Second Prize is an annual membership at the club, valued at $400. Naturally, it goes to whoever brings in the second-highest number of new signups, with a minimum requirement of three.
First Prize, and we’re really excited about this, is a weekend at the Mittersill Resort in New Hampshire’s stunning White Mountains. Yes, folks, a newly remodeled and re-finished chalet awaits you and your family. It is minutes away from Cannon Mountain Ski Area, Franconia Notch State Park, Echo Lake, and oodles of other attractions. This is a four-season home in an area that is beautiful any time of the year. You’ll be pleased to know that we are including signups for the current session (starting September 8th) and the subsequent session (starting November 3rd). So if you’ve already gotten your friends and relations to join our band of merry swordspersons, congratulations! You have a head start. Now it’s time to send out the press gangs, because some of your circle haven’t yet heard about our club and all it does for you. And if you haven’t yet signed up anyone, better get cracking!
But if all that isn’t enough to get you to the club, the silent auction should do the trick. We’re offering a brand-new Ipod Touch; an audio recording of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix; jewelry; and much more, all yours for the (out)bidding!

The evening caps off with the world premier of our latest cinematic masterpiece, Sword of Lightning, Sword of Thunder. The movie was filmed entirely at the new club, and promises thrills, chills, and lots of swordplay. One of the stars of our film will introduce the movie and tell you about his experiences with the summer camp. Click the picture to see the trailer for the movie. |
We figure the movie will whet your bladelust, so after the screening we’re opening the floor to Open Fencing. Bring your weapon of choice and come on down!
In short, if you dislike movies, have never enjoyed fencing and generally despise fun, this is probably not the event for you. But if you are that other sort, mark your calendar now! We’ll see you all on October 25th.
